Connect Laptop to TV

By

There are numerous computer manufacturing companies out there that distribute highly-competitive laptops for sale. Some of these high-tech notebooks now have graphic cards with a TV-Out option through a 4-pin or 7-pin S-Video plug. Do you have a PC having this feature but you couldn't figure out how to use it properly? Here are comprehensive tips on how to maximize your entertainment experience by knowing how to connect laptop to TV:

NOTE: For Windows XP

You must setup your viewing option to "TV". Further instructions are given below.

For Windows 7

If you have just upgraded to this OS, you should update your video drivers as well in order for you to enable S-Video output. Then, run the Windows 7 TV wizard after connecting your wirings.

Checklist:

- change your display settings to 800 x 600. This is for your media to be compatible and not have any problems with video presentation.

- connect all necessary hardware before turning on the computer:

1. Connect the "Pro-S-Video to 3 RCA" or "S-Video to RCA" cable to "S-video out" plug of the computer and "video in" or the yellow jack on your TV.

Do this before turning ON your computer.

- set your TV to "recognize the RCA" or the yellow video-in jack.

In Windows XP:

a. click on Start then choose control panel

b. click on display, and then settings

c. slide the "screen resolution" area slider bar towards 800 x 600 option.

d. click Apply

e. Press the FM key and the correspoding F-number key of your computer.

g. enjoy watching your presentation

In Windows 98, Me, and 2000:

* Enable the TV setting every time you start your computer.

a. Click on Start; choose Settings, and then Control Panel

b. Choose Display. Under display properties windows, make sure that the depth of the color is set to 16bit.

c. Click on Advanced properties under settings tab to view the video card features

d. Click on the Display tab to view the output options.

e. Change the primary display from "monitor" to "TV".

To make TV your primary display select "monitor 2" and dragging it to =the left side of "monitor 1".

Videos are only played in one monitor at a time; so if you chose TV then your computer monitor will not work, and vice versa.

f. Click, OK to close the window and apply the changes that are made.

One thing to be taken consideration here is the resolution of the 2 monitors. Your TV's and your notebook monitor's resolution are entirely different from each other. TV has lower resolution but appears to be as clear as your monitors since it is programmed for long dic=stance viewing.

There are the concrete steps on how to connect laptop to TV. Of course, viewing clips and videos from high definition screens are great but what are more important are our eyes. We must first try to weigh the pros and cons and make the necessary preparations for ultimate viewing experience.
